Pre - Cleanse
Why is it important to prepare for your Collective Cleanse?
Preparing for a Liquitarian Diet is essential. Herxheimer Reactions and other “things that go bump in the night” could be you waking up to a horrendous headache, weakness or fatigue so heavy you can’t get out of bed! In the time leading up to your juice cleanse you have the opportunity to set the stage for how successful you will be on your cleanse, and how efficiently your body will be able to detox. How you prepare is just as important as whether or not you complete your cleanse.
Elimination or Preparation Cleanse. It’s recommend to precleanse five days before your actual fast by cutting out all stimulants and processed foods such as coffee (cut down now!), alcohol, anything white (pasta, rice, sugar), meat, dairy (cheese & milk), in other words anything that is going to translate into acidity in the body. While fasting, it’s recommended to abstain from carrots and beet root...sorry. Acidity can cause heat and heat can cause inflammation, inflammation can lead to dis-ease. Just saying.
In order to properly prepare the body for a juice cleanse, it is necessary to eliminate the intake of hard-to-digest, toxic foods, and replace them with easy-to-digest, healing foods. Eliminate refined sugar and flour, animal products including dairy, packaged and processed foods, and fried foods from your diet. Instead, include plant-based foods, including soups, salads, smoothies, gluten-free grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, and fermented foods. By making these changes, you can ease the body from solid to liquids, without the typical shock to the system. Plus, these foods promote the movement of toxins through the body, preparing your system for a deeper cleansing process.
By following these guidelines, the body can focus on increasing the functioning of the main detoxification pathways (kidneys, liver, and intestine), which is essential to maximizing the effectiveness of your juice cleanse. The more the body is able to move toxins out of the body through these pathways, the more efficiently toxins are safely removed, allowing you to reap more benefits on your cleanse.
What can you eat? All subacid fruits and vegetables (except for the starchy ones like potatoes, kumara and the like), coconut water, seeds (chia, sunflower, pumpkin seed), nuts.(almonds soaked for 8 hours) and alkalizing grains (millet, amaranth, quinoa “Keen-wha.”)
Drink Plenty of Water. Water is called ‘the Universal Solvent.” A solvent dilutes and hydrates the body. As our bodies are 70 -90% water, it is vitally important that you get as much as 2 liters a day of pure spring water. Tap water is full of chemicals. Stock up on spring water. If you have a water filter, all the better.
Keep a Cleanse and Clear Environment. Toxins in the environment come on many levels from chemicals in your personal hygiene products to cleaning products, both in the home and at work, air pollution, water pollution and toxic fertilizers and pesticides added to preserve fruits and vegetables you buy in the grocery store. Containers such as aluminum and plastic bottles contain chemicals that mimic hormones and interrupt normal chemical messaging in the body. A huge topic for sure. While it’s ideal to be able to grow your own food, practically speaking, stick to a few practices that will help your body assimilate and alchemically transform on your experience on this cleansing journey. “It’s the journey, not the destination.”By Keeping your personal space clear so there is less on your mind to have to sort through. Make a list and check off when you have accomplished your tasks. You might consider decluttering and give away clothes and objects you don’t really use and that takes up space.
Journaling. Having a journal such as a beautifully bound book, notebook or note paper - whatever feels creative and handy to you is fine. You can get a blank paper and make it a work of art. Toxins can also apply to toxic thoughts and toxic relationships. Exercises and examples will be given to sort out what might be standing in the way of your getting beyond the current feedback loop you currently find yourself in. Remember that everything brought to light from the subconscious is good. This can be a daunting process, but the only way through is to face your fears and hidden unconscious behaviors and bring them to the light. “Poof,” they disappear! Now that’s magic!
